Ontario's Official flower

The White Trillium
Since 1937 the White Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum ) has been the Official flower of the Province of Ontario, They tend to bloom during the month of May for only a few weeks.

White Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum )

Even though it is not against the law to pick a white trillium in Ontario it is best to leave them where they are because a trillium plant can take up to 11 years to produce its first flower and should be left for others to enjoy.

Even though the White Trillium is the official flower, for fun I thought I would post a picture of a red trillium and if you look close in the background you can see the huge numbers of white trillium's

Red Trillium (Trillium erectum)

The Trillium erectum is the only red-petalled trillium in Ontario.

Nice site Nick.
I am a Detroiter and visit quite often, Point Pelee, Holiday beach, Peche Island.
Unfortunately the U.S. imposing the new passport law will restrict a lot of traffic between Detroit and Windsor, Michigan and Ontario. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for checking out my blog,

The new passport law will restrict traffic for a little while but I am sure it will go back to the way it was before once the new drivers licenses come into effect. I'm more worried about the people in the mid states that aren't as likely to bother with getting updated ID.ie passport or the new U.S. Passport Card or the Enhanced Driver License (EDL),
